VIR McCOY
I grew up in Venice Beach, Los Angeles and as a young man was exposed to an incredible amount of musical, cultural and social diversity. My father is a musician as well and influenced me greatly in my musical love and style of teaching. At 8 years old we moved to Oregon and lived on a farm and my next teacher was nature. I became more aware of the subtle nature of music and cultivated an interest in the environment. Then we moved back to Southern California (Orange County) where I attended high school and junior college. At this time I began playing guitar and my love for music really blossomed. I later attended U.C. Berkeley where I majored in Geography and my love of nature continued into the science realms.
I have cultivated 3 general careers (never really satisfied doing one!). I have worked as a field biologist part time for the last 25 years doing rare plant and animal surveys throughout the west. This work has also translated into environmental education, as I have taught in schools and summer programs over the years. As a musician I have toured and recorded with Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead, the award winning world music group Hamsa Lila ,and a children’s group Kid Kaleidoscope among other projects.
The 3rd path I have cultivated is the healing arts. I have a massage therapy and advanced bodyworker certifications including. neuromuscular reprogramming. I later studied herbalism, homeopathy as well as western pharmaceuticals. After a deep dive of Lyme Disease and Long Covid, I was able to emerge 100% healthy by using my intuition. I call this intuitive access.
SYNTHESIZING
I continue to weave these forms together as a conduit for creativity and I am inspired at the results and endless possibilities.
I believe that creativity is the deepest healer as it brings us to the present moment.
I am here to teach, heal and inspire.
